Lyndon Ji

Lyndon Ji, Grand Prize winner of the Chicago International Music Competition, has performed across the USA, Asia, and Europe. Equally at home in traditional and contemporary repertoire, he has recently appeared with members of the Grammy winning Akropolis Reed Quintet and at Mozarteum (Salzburg), Core Memory Music, Orchestra New England, Gijón Piano Festival, Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Bowdoin International Music Festival, and Norfolk New Music Workshop. This season, he holds week-long residencies at the Avaloch Farm Music Institute and Yellow Barn in collaboration with celebrated composers Pascal Le Boeuf, Igor Santos, and Benjamin Webster.

Lyndon is Assistant Professor of Piano and Music at West Virginia Wesleyan College, staff pianist at Rutgers University, and Artistic Director of the Bay Area International Piano Competition. He is a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Yale School of Music under Wei-Yi Yang, following studies with Roberto Plano and Logan Skelton at Indiana University (AD) and the University of Michigan (MM). Lyndon began his piano studies in childhood with Chun-Chi An, debuting with the Carmel Symphony Orchestra in 2012. Despite his musical inclinations, his early primary interest was Mathematics. He earned his B.S. in Mathematics from Yale University, graduating with several honors and working in the Office of Strategic Analysis as an inaugural Swensen Fellow. During this time, he continued piano under Elizabeth Parisot and Wei-Yi Yang.

Outside of music, Lyndon enjoys brewing coffee in all forms, cooking, video games, and the company of his wife and two cats.
