
COMPETITION RULES
REGISTRATION
Registration and Video Submission Due - June 15, 2026

Competition ("Competition") has the sole discretion and reserves the right to refuse entry into or expel any competitor and/or their representatives ("Competitor") from Competition at any time for any reason.

Competition will be cancelled if less than 15 participants are registered. If cancelled, registered participants will be notified, and registration fees will be refunded within a reasonable amount of time.

1st place winners of the past competitions are not eligible to compete in the same age division in which they previously competed and won.

REPERTOIRE​
-
Memorization is REQUIRED except in the case of challenging contemporary works. Please check with the competition prior to submission for approval.

1-2 solo piano or piano concerto pieces. Arranged pieces are not accepted. Individual movements of larger works such as sonatas are accepted. Any questions may be directed to the competition directors.

1 piece from the past competition may be reused when submitting 2 pieces.

Repeats are at the participant's discretion.

Repertoire change is not allowed after the video has been submitted.

Submitted scores must have measures numbered.

FILMING INSTRUCTIONS

Performance attire is REQUIRED. No sneakers, barefoot, jeans, sweatpants, t-shirts, mini skirt, etc. Tie and Jacket are optional.

Videos should be in horizontal format with as high quality sound as possible.

Upload to YouTube, etc, and submit URL (No files are accepted)

Videos must be recorded from a fixed camera angle, clearly showing both hands, fingers, and pedal foot. The performer's head to pedal feet must be in the frame.

Videos must be unedited and unaltered.
RESULTS and AWARDS​

Failure to adhere to one or more of the rules above will automatically remove the contestant from consideration for prizes.

The ratings are determined by the quality of the performances. The Competition retains the sole discretion and reserves the right to declare multiple winners or no winner in any division. Decisions made by the Competition are final and not open to review or challenge. Adjudicators' comments reflect personal opinions and are presented anonymously.

Each Competitor will receive certificates and detailed comments (upon payment) from two adjudicators, which will be delivered via U.S. mail in approximately 4-6 weeks after the competition due. In the event the Competitor did not receive the certificate in 6 weeks, the Competitor shall notify the Competition at BayAreaPiano33@Gmail.com.

All 1st, 2nd, 3rd place candidate must provide an photo ID for age verification.
- 1st, 2nd, 3rd place winners will be featured on the Competition website with their full names and performance videos selected by the Competition.
- Winners will be awarded tuition assistance. Previous prizes have ranged from $50 to $100. The prize amount for the upcoming competition will be determined and published shortly.
- Winners will be invited to the virtual Winner's Showcase by submitting a NEW video FILE (mp4, Mov) for a piece with a self-introduction, following the filming instruction. The new file must be submitted by the due notified by the Competition. In the event that the winner needs to submit a different repertoire, notify the Competition immediately and follow the instructions.
- Master class will be offered to the winners selected by the master class adjudicators.
The Competition Committee reserves the right to use video and photo materials submitted to the Competition.

Any and all Rules are enforced by all Terms and subject to change without notice. The changes are effective immediately.
